Contract Signing of KFIPJ Project

InfoTech - Annual QAD Roadshow 2016

Abdulla Fouad InfoTech held its annual QAD (Enterprise Resource Planning) roadshow at Le Meridien Hotel in Al Khobar on the 6th of December 2016.

Abdulla Fouad Impalloy Ltd. Co. (AFIC) is pleased to announce the ATEX Certification of its Cathodic Protection Oil Immersed Transformer Rectifiers.

Collection Skills Training

With help of Chamber of Commerce, a "Collection Skills Training" was delivered to all of Abdulla Fouad Collection Team. The training was conducted in Head Office – Training Room on 16th and 17th of November.

The trainees mastered the main collection skills through role plays and scenarios. They also received up-to-date techniques of dealing with objections of customers.

Sixteen collector attended this course. The training was successfully presented and the attendees provided a great feedback.

New Frontiers in Stem Cell Basic Research, Translation and Clinical Application

MSD-BD participated in the conference held and organized by King Abdullah International Medical Research Center (KAIMR).

The 2016 stem cell conference entitled, “New Frontiers in Stem Cell Basic Research, Translation and Clinical Application, in Association with the International Placenta Stem Cell Society (IV IPLASS MEETING)” featured keynote speakers, symposia, posters and new investigator sessions. Emphasis was given on the latest advances in the basic science of stem cells, cord blood banking, stem cell transplantation, disease modelling, tissue bioengineering, bone marrow donor registry and HLA typing.

Successfully attracting clinicians, Research Scientist, Doctors and other medical physicians, locally and worldwide, the 3 day event was held in KSAU-HS Convention Center- Riyadh on September 19-21, 2016.

Contract Signing for SEC-Tabarjal Project

TAQQAT and Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) signed a new contract for the addition of 33kV Circuit Breakers in Nabaj Switching Station in Tabarjal at the Contracting Department, SEC-EOA Office in Dammam on July 13, 2016.

TAQQAT shall perform on Lump Sum Turnkey (LSTK) contract, installation of eight (8) 33kV switchgears and execute necessary modification in control, protection, SCADA, communication, HVAC system, fire alarm system and associated works at the source substation.

The contract was signed by TAQQAT Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Othman Al-Othman and SEC Exec. Director for Distribution & Customer Services-EOA - Mr. Abdulhamid A. Al-Nuaim, SEC Contracting Representatives-EOA - Mr. Abdullah Al-Reziza & Mr. Feras Al-Shaikh Hussain. TAQQAT SCADA Business Unit Manager – Mr. Sobhi Ali was also present on this momentous event.

This four-day conference and Exhibition brought together a diversity of the most influential Non Destructive Testing decision makers from major manufacturers across the Globe and Testing companies in in the GCC. It was an opportunity for IES-NDT to raise its profile in the NDT industry, to contribute to technical discussions and acquire knowledge about new ideas, and to connect with industry peers. MSD has participated in 3rd WERFEN EEMEAI Meeting which was held in Stresa (VB) -Italy from 20 – 22th May 2015. This year, Abdulla Fouad Group has celebrated its 66th Annual Ceremony. On July 8, 2014, 550 people including employees and managers, gathered at Sheraton Dammam to celebrate their hard work throughout the year. Employees were recognized and appreciated for their hard work, loyalty and dedication in their long years of service, and effort to participate in the expansion and success of this group. Honorary to the ceremony was the presence of our President Mr. Faisal Abdulla Fouad.

The ceremony began with a warm opening by Mr. Asim Baig, followed by a beautiful recitation of the holy Quran by M. Obadah Khoder. The opening Speech was presented also by Mr. Asim Baig.

After that Mr. Faisal Abdulla Fouad proceeded with Board of Director’s speech.

As a token of appreciation, the Board of Directors presented service certificates, trophies, and service awards to the employees. Mr. Faisal Abdulla Fouad began by honoring the first, second, third, and fourth group of the awardees which included the 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 Years Award for the number of years completed in service respectively.

This year, Abdulla Fouad Group had three employees receiving the 30 Years’ experience Award. These loyal employees have shown dedication and hard work throughout their long years of service.

Third, came the “Man of the Division” awards for the year 2013 which were given out to the employees by Mr. Faisal Abdulla Fouad. Finally, the last award, the “Division of the Year 2013 Award”, was presented to FTA.

The ceremony ended by thanking President Mr. Faisal Abdulla Fouad, the executives, and members of the organizing committee, followed by a dinner buffet.

     
     
 

Abdulla Fouad Group acquires Saudi Arabian portfolio to expand its footprint in the country’s fast growing oil and gas sector

Al-Khobar – [14th of October,2014] – Abdulla Fouad Group (AFG) announces the acquisition of a number of oil and gas joint ventures, agencies and facilities from the Shoaibi Group (SG) to expand its presence in serving the Saudi Arabian energy market.

AFG has successfully reached an agreement with the SG to acquire, subject to certain consents and regulatory approvals, a wide ranging portfolio of joint ventures offering products, services and facilities to the Saudi Arabian energy market. The portfolio represents an established local footprint with strong international partners participating in the unprecedented investment and development program currently underway in Saudi Arabia.

The acquired portfolio consists of many world-renowned companies in their respective areas of operations which include, testing and inspection, off-shore support vessels & services, dredging & reclamation, seismic survey, geotechnical services, reservoir analysis and optimization, exploration & production and oil & gas field equipment & supplies. The transaction also includes the acquisition of a 50,000m2 state of the art industrial park located in the second industrial city in Dammam, which serves as a base for the newly added ventures.

AFG chairman Sheikh Abdulla Fouad congratulated the Shoaibi Family and thanked all parties involved for successfully closing this transaction. He said “we have been involved in the O & G sector since our inception, and it gives me great joy to see that our aspiration of increasing our footprint in the sector has materialized”.

KBR-AMCDE is world renowned Engineering company. AFIC have been supporting KBR-AMCDE for many years with their Cathodic Protection Design, Engineering & Solutions. AFIC General Manager along with Business Development Manager visited KBR and invited them for a complementary Cathodic Protection Seminar to broaden KBR’s Engineering Team knowledge with respect to cathodic protection. The Sadara Chemical Company “SADARA” is a newly formed joint venture by Saudi Aramco and the Dow Chemical Company. Sadara will be a world-scale integrated chemicals complex, in Jubail Industrial City. AFIC business development department visited SADARA and invited them to their facility for the approval.

Sadara require Cathodic Protections monitoring of their tanks and plants and prior to the invitation for proposal. Sadara requested to provide information and documents about AFIC in order to evaluate your company’s capability and to qualify us based on the required scope. Business Development Department gave a presentation to SADARA’s Team followed by a plant & facilities tour guided by our Plant Manager where they were entertained during the visit.

On March 6, 2014, the continuing Certificate of Registration for ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System was issued by Intertek, with the validity up to 05 March 2017. Associated to maintaining the certificate is surveillance – evaluation, the latest being conducted this 20th August 2014. The Surveillance – Evaluation was for the conformance and effectiveness of the management system with applicable standard(s) for the purpose of continuing the certification, as well as evaluation of the effectiveness of the management system to ensure the client organization is continually meeting its specified objectives. The audit went fine with no record of non-conformity observed and raised.

     

Faisalco GM, Engr. Andy Princena and key personnel at Faisalco are by profession in the discipline of Mechanical Engineering. Engr. Princena believes the continuing participations to industry related seminars can contribute to adeptness to the modern methods and information in this chosen field. Engr. Andy is an active member of the Philippines Society of Mechanical Engineers, and recently attended the Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers 22nd Technical Symposium on the theme of: Best Practices in Petroleum Engineering last August 20, 2014.

     

In Faisalco, safety is everybody’s business. Safety awareness is very vital to our crew and operations. In our effort to maintain a high level of awareness, we ensure that Faisalco crew is constantly receiving training of international standards. For this reason, we appointed Human Assets Training Center Saudi Arabia to review and update our trainings in the aspects of Machine Guarding and Safety as per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.212, which is well suited to the nature of work that Faisalco crew are exposed to. Site Supervisors, Engineers and Technicians all received the same training advices in pursuit of best safety practices. The training update was conducted on 13 October 2013, and received the certificate of training completion valid up to 12 October 2015.

IES Projects team has attended training from Kewaunee (Lab. manufacturer). Kewaunee’s strategic alliance with AFHCO is part of AFHCO’s vision as Total lab. solution planner designer and provider. Training was conducted by Mr. Srinivas (General Manager) and Mohammed Abdul Bari (Projects Department Head) from AFHCO. Kewaunee is a total lab. solution provider with excellent engineering and technical capabilities that makes them stand out in the market with AFHCO which has completed its 65 trading years in the market. Kewaunee designs, provides consultancy, installs and provides all HVAC and scrubber engineering that’s of the most important concern to all laboratory users today. AFHCO has recently such complex projects at New England University (Morocco), Marafiq Yanbu and Industrial city Jubail.

     

After IES (Industrial Equipment Service ) division success in various parts of the kingdom for setting up and offering turnkey solutions for laboratories. IES has now been nominated to setup Ebola routine testing lab. in various hospitals of the kingdom. The lab. is setup on international standards in respect to Ministry of Health directive to prepare kingdom for any such epidemic. The testing labs were first setup in Jeddah preventing itself for any such epidemic outbreak during Hajj season.

The project consist of Acoustic Intrusion Detection (AID) System. The project is being run to provide an intruder detection capability on the two railway lines running from Dammam to Riyadh. The system shall monitor the buried fiber optic cable to detect, classify and identify intrusions with range of the cable deployed along the railway track.

TAQQAT Global Co. Ltd. successful completed and handed-over to Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) the work for Reinforcement of Musadiyah, Qarah, Al-Adarah & Hudayb 33/13.8kv Substations.

Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) requires to reinforce existing Musadiyah, Qarah, Al-Adarah & Hudayb 33/13.8kv Substations by utilizing two transformers 20/30 MVA available in Rafha Old Power Plant. The two transformers from Rafha substation will be dismantled and shifted to Musadiyah substation likewise the existing two transformers 15/18 MVA from Musadiyah substation will be dismantled and shifted to Qarah substation, and also, the existing two transformers 12.5 MVA each from Qarah substation will be dismantled and shifted, one to Hudayb and the other to Al-Adarah substation.

Other works includes rehabilitation of transformer foundations in all substations to accommodate the relocated transformers which is larger in size than the existing.

TAQQAT Global Co. Ltd. performed on Lump Sum Turnkey (LSTK) basis, design, engineering, material procurement, quality management, factory inspection/testing, transport and delivery to site, construction, site inspection, testing and commissioning and all associated work and services as specified in the Scope of Work and Technical Specifications.

The said project was started last January 2014 and estimated to be completed within seven months but due to full determination and dedication given by all the members of the team headed by Engr. Khamis Shehata under the supervision of Youssef Maddah – Support Manager and Othman Al-Othman – Managing Director and CEO, the project has been completed one month ahead of schedule.

This year, Abdulla Fouad Group has celebrated its 65th Annual Ceremony. On May 29, 2013, 400 people including employees and managers, gathered at Sheraton Dammam to celebrate their hard work throughout the year. Employees were recognized and appreciated for their hard work, loyalty and dedication in their long years of service, and effort to participate in the expansion and success of this group. Honorary to the ceremony was the presence of our Chairman Sheikh Abdulla Fouad and our president Mr. Faisal Abdulla Fouad.

The ceremony began with a warm opening by Mr. Hamad Al Bu Ali, followed by a beautiful recitation of the holy Quran by M. Obadah Khoder. The opening Speech was presented by Mr. Abdulaziz Al Awadhi.

 

After that Sheikh Abdulla Fouad proceeded with the Arabic Board of Director’s speech and an English Board of Director’s speech was also given by Mr. Faisal Abdulla Fouad.

As a token of appreciation, the Board of Directors presented service certificates, trophies, and service awards to the employees. Mr. Faisal Abdulla Fouad began by honoring the first, second, third, and fourth group of the awardees which included the 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 Years Award for the number of years completed in service respectively.

This year, Abdulla Fouad Group had five employees receiving the 30 Years Awarded one receiving 35 years of experience. These loyal employees have shown dedication and hard work throughout their long years of service.

Third, came the “Man of the Division” awards for the year 2010 which were given out to the employees by Mr. Faisal Abdulla Fouad. Finally, the last award, the “Division of the Year 2012 Award”, was presented to FaisalCo. Toy Town also has been awarded as the “Division of the Year 2012 Award-Net Profit”.

The ceremony ended by thanking the Chairman Sheikh Abdulla Fouad, president Mr. Faisal Abdulla Fouad, the executives, and members of the organizing committee, followed by a dinner buffet.

Prior to selecting the awardees, ESQR researched public information sources, chambers of commerce, as well as conducted internet polls.

Companies, organizations and people were asked, via internet polls, to name companies or organizations whose products and services consistently met their expectations. The voters were customers, suppliers and collaborating companies. A special attention was paid to the quality endorsement policy of the selected organization.

In order to further celebrate this achievement, Abdulla Fouad Group held a short celebration party of its own at its Head Quarters in Dammam on the 3rd of Feb, 2013. Abdulla Fouad Group HR has conducted a specialized HR course “Job Analysis, Job Evaluation and Reward Management” from 17th to 19th of September in HO Training Room. The training has been delivered through Hay Group. The main objective of this course is to train the HR employees to be more competitive in these skills and provide them with most up to date HR practices. Ten employees attended this course. All of them gave a great feedback.

     

The first glimpse into an exciting first basketball game of Abdulla Fouad against Budget Rent A Car won by our team final scores of 60 – 32 last Friday, 20th of September 2013 at the Al-Ettifaq Gymnasium, a real sign of progress and had a better energy level for our team on the rise.

The win against Budget-Rent-A-Car is certainly significant to ensure our team focus remains to get better every single time they play.

InfoTech Division (Western Region) has just handed over a project of Datacenter design and three floors cabling to AQARAT Real Estate, one of ELISAI Group of companies. The project was awarded to AFCO earlier this year.

A live demonstration of the systems took place on the first week of July 2013, started with the fire fighting, Generators, Alarms and the CCTVs.

This project was a good experience for the team to do the design from scratch and it should be a good reference for future projects.

“Document Management System (DMS) is one of MOJ main focus for paperless system. It was promoted as a working environment to govern in terms of transparency, responsiveness, participation, equity, effectiveness, efficiency, accountability and strategic vision. Abdulla Fouad archiving solution had been initiated to assist MOJ to overcome obstacles of their daily manual operations and procedures by supporting and developing an off-the-shelf comprehensive, coherent and integrated end-to-end DMS solution, also to help them automate most of daily services and operations. The project, which was implemented Kingdom wide in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice, one of the most important aspects of the project is to relate documents electronically through state-of-the-art techniques.

 

Abdulla Fouad Holding provides advanced and versatile DMS and archiving solutions covering the entire document management cycle within the Ministry of Justice. Starting from capturing and indexing large amount of papers, to accommodating a huge number of electronic documents, and to passing through different operations of document processing. In addition to managing data acquisition, workflow and national-standard archiving solutions. Recently, AFCO had won the Ministry of Justice tender valued at 33 million Riyals; it consists of printers, scanners products, including deployment and installation of Kingdom wide courthouses (~ 400 sites) and their regional branches. On the 27th Jan. 2014, Shaikh Abdulla Fouad, Chairman of Abdulla Fouad Holding Co, has appointed ARCON to build the new Abdulla Fouad Residential Compound. The construction of this compound will cost around SAR 132 Million which will cover a total area of 36,250 sqm.

November was a very active month for marketing activities for QIAGEN products in the Kingdom. In the second week of the month Dr. Raed Samar the Global product manager of the NGS and PCR arrays in QIAGEN visited the kingdom to present the use of PCR Arrays and Next-Generation Sequencing in the molecular analysis of disease. Advances in NGS and real-time PCR Array technologies are enabling deeper understanding of diseases, such as cancer, diabetes, and obesity, at the molecular level. Both technologies are increasingly being used by basic, translational, and clinical researchers to answer more complex biological questions and deliver personalized healthcare. While NGS provides high-throughput detection of DNA variants associated with diseases, real-time PCR Arrays provide medium-throughput detection of different classes of nucleic acids such as mRNA and microRNA (miRNA), as well as a wide array of DNA changes such as mutations, copy number alterations, and methylation.

Dr. Raed Samara started his tour in the Kingdom with a full informative presentation for these subjects at King Saud University in Riyadh. This presentation took a serious interest from the professors and the researchers in the university especially Dr. Yazid Al Sheikh the host of this event and the supervisor of the Chair of Medical & Molecular Genetics Research and one of the projects that will start using the new technologies of Qiagen is under the name of "Screening of miRNA signatures as diagnostic markers of colorectal cancer metastasis".

Dr. Raed Samara presented these technologies at King Fahid Research Center in Jeddah under the supervision of Dr. Mohammed Al-Gahtany the president of the Genome Center. All the attendees showed their interest in the technologies that QIAGEN provides to the research and the diagnostics fields and also they share their plans on how they will use these technologies in their current and future researches.

Between the 24th and the 27th of November Abdulla Fouad Group- MSD division and with the collaboration with QIAGEN participated in the “Second International Genomic Medicine Conference”, the conference held in King Abulaziz University in Jeddah under the supervision of the Center of Excellence in Genomic Medicine Research.

AFHCO Launched New Fully Automated Chemistry Analyzer in Cooperation with Thermo Scintefic

AFHCO in Coordination with our principle Thermo Scintefic Launched Indiko and Indiko plus Fully Automated Bench top Chemistry Analyzers the successor and second generation of Konelab Fully Automated Chemistry Analyzers. The new Analyzers are Bench top with upgraded software options to match and exceed the top of the line Analyzers present in the market.

The first Datscan procedure in Middle East and Saudi Arabia took place at the King Fahd Medical City in Saudi Arabia in corporation with Abdulla Fouad Holding Co/ Medical Supply Division.

DaTscan (Ioflupane I -123 Injection) is a radiopharmaceutical indicated for striatal dopamine transporter visualization using single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) brain imaging to assist in the evaluation of adult patients with suspected Parkinsonian syndromes (PS).

The very short half- life of I-123 (13.2 hours) was the big challenge for our Nuclear medicine team to come over and make the logistic arrangements to deliver the product on time to the end-user.

Here is a brief description of the two days successful story:

Day 1/ 2nd October 2013/: Training & Calibration day
The shipment arrived on time at 6 am ,we started at 10am with phantom measurements on the bright view double head camera and we made different measurements on different types of collimator, images after reconstructions showed excellent results, the customer and his staff showed great interest and they are well trained and ready for the next day.

Day 2 / 3rd October 2013/: patient day
The 2nd Datscan shipment arrived at 6am, we injected the 1st Datscan patient at 12am ( by the way, this vial is # 500,000 Datscan vial since starting the official production of Datscan in Eindhoven ,Netherlands ) and the 2nd injection at 1pm, the scan usually starts 3 hours post injection , the scan for both patients were performed with excellent images and clear results , the clinicians from Neurology department participated during both scans and were satisfied as the results met their expectations specially the first patient who was only 33 years old and the scan showed positive results.
